Gird Loins For Mettle Test
Biden: Obama’s mettle will be tested shortly after his coronation and he’ll need some girded loins backing him up. Dem moneybags loins, apparently. ABC’s Political Radar:
“Mark my words,” the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. “It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We’re about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don’t remember anything else I said. Watch, we’re gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.”
“I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate,” Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities. “And he’s gonna need help. And the kind of help he’s gonna need is, he’s gonna need you - not financially to help him - we’re gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.”
Well, it has yet to be apparent he is either right or even has much of a clue about how to handle the international problems we already know about, so that’s a good guess. Of course, as Americans, we will allow want to support our president and wish him success. This is why we need him to know what he is doing, or at least, not to be a moron. Or a ninny. Or a total Kumbayah-singing moonbat.
“Gird your loins,” Biden told the crowd. “We’re gonna win with your help, God willing, we’re gonna win, but this is not gonna be an easy ride. This president, the next president, is gonna be left with the most significant task. It’s like cleaning the Augean stables, man. This is more than just, this is more than – think about it, literally, think about it – this is more than just a capital crisis, this is more than just markets. This is a systemic problem we have with this economy.”
Gird your loins? Well, given the Augean piles produced by the Obama campaign to date, they’re about due to muck out the stalls. Anyway, re the candidate’s prospective mettle test, McCain had this to say. WSJ blogs:
“What is more troubling is that Sen. Obama told their campaign donors that when that crisis hits, they would have to stand with them because it wouldn’t be apparent Sen. Obama would have the right response.”
That’s being reported as a “gaffe” and criticized by the Obama camp for being taken “out of context.” I dunno, looks like what Biden said.
Hotair: Biden’s Herculean effort to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Notes that JFK considered his own Obama-like initial foray into foreign policy, a sitdown with an autocrat without pre-conditions, “an unmitigated disaster.” Hey, I thought when Dems say they model themselves on JFK, they mean stuff that worked! What stuff is that, says Ed:
What resulted? The Berlin Wall and the Cuban missile crisis. Kennedy wound up trading strategic intel and missile installations in western Asia in exchange for Soviet withdrawal of the nuclear missiles from Cuba. The entire Kennedy administration turned out to be a foreign-policy disaster that was only overlooked because of the tragic assassination of Kennedy in Dallas in 1963.
I agree with Biden. Obama is exactly like Kennedy in this regard, and our enemies will test us by threatening our interests around the globe if we elect Obama. I’d rather avoid the problem altogether and elect a man who puts enough fear into the minds of our enemies to keep them from testing us at all.
