Pinch Me!

How the other half thinks. Michael Moore first, because this really is his special day. Pinch Me!
Ugh! No thanks, but it makes some fun reading:
Friends,
Who among us is not at a loss for words? Tears pour out. Tears of joy. Tears of relief. A stunning, whopping landslide of hope in a time of deep despair.
In a nation that was founded on genocide and then built on the backs of slaves, it was an unexpected moment, shocking in its simplicity: Barack Obama, a good man, a black man, said he would bring change to Washington, and the majority of the country liked that idea. The racists were present throughout the campaign and in the voting booth. But they are no longer the majority, and we will see their flame of hate fizzle out in our lifetime.
There was another important “first” last night. Never before in our history has an avowed anti-war candidate been elected president during a time of war. I hope President-elect Obama remembers that as he considers expanding the war in Afghanistan.
As opposed to letting it drag on or outright abandonment and surrender to al Qaeda and pals, I suppose. This is pretty good:
Do not treat the Republicans in your life the way they have treated you the past eight years.
Here’s a thought. How about not treating Republicans the way you have treated them for the last eight years. You know, lies, distortion, insults, aiding and abetting the enemy for cheap political gain, etc.
Show them the grace and goodness that Barack Obama exuded throughout the campaign. Though called every name in the book, he refused to lower himself to the gutter and sling the mud back. Can we follow his example? I know, it will be hard.
Well, if past is prologue …
But what a way to start! Barack Hussein Obama, the 44th President of the United States. Wow. Seriously, wow.
OK, some more lefties, in varying degrees of rationality:
Dem Daily, with 10 points, echoing Moore, “Wow, just wow.”
Daily Kos: “Yes we can … The time has come for us to truley come together and change the world. Today we begin our journey in earnest.”
Think Progress, A Progressive Mandate … Now Comes the Hard Part. Also, entertainingly, Conservatives who slammed Obama for being a socialist now say he ran a center-right campaign. I’d hardly call it that, but someone needs to explain to TP that the image Obama wants to project and what he actually is are two different things.
The New Republic: America the Liberal … can Dems establish an enduring majority? Good question. Never underestimate the ability of the Dems to act in their own worst interest, TNR. Also, It’s The Economy Stupid, Kinda …
Edsall at HuffPo: The good news is, Obama electrified both the grubby and the elite. Bad news, now he presides over a mess. Yeah, well, careful what you wish for. Meanwhile, Sirota at HuffPo notes what I’d take to be the cold feet of one particularly gutless pol. American looks in the mirror and celebrates, but Harry Reid says: “This is not a mandate for a political party or an ideology.” Doesn’t look like he’s getting his filibuster-proof majority, bummer.
Firedoglake … what the heck is a firedoglake, anyway? … Bush rules out military coup. It’s a joke, only they’re not joking.
Meanwhile, in clueless irrelevancy, here’s a Barr voter.

The most fun is going to be watching the left try to find things to whine and curse about without dissing their Chosen One.

An open letter to Michael Moore:
Dear Michael,
I suppose I have never thanked you properly for helping to get Bush re-elected in 2004. I don’t think we could have done it without you, and I mean that.
However, in the spirit of reciprocity for that good deed, I offer you the following advice. One of the reasons that Obama was able to be elected was because you mostly kept your big fat mouth shut this time around.
You might want to think that over before you start shooting it off again.
Sincerely,
From your fellow
Fatty Bolger

Just exactly what was this genocide that the country was founded on? I know that the stuff coming out of his mouth doesn’t have to connect with reality but it should have a slight correspondence, at least.

Michael Moore obviously believes he has been vindicated and will be welcomed back into the leftist fold. Sorry, Michael, but you are still an obnoxious jerk, and repulsive in appearance as well. Let us please dispense with you, once and for all.
