Obama’s Attack Dog

Rahm Emanuel takes the Chief of Staff job. It’s supposed to be a sign Obama will govern from the middle. I think it’s a sign Obama will get Pelosi and Reid to bark to his tune.
The guy’s been in the House since 2002 and was already No. 4 Dem, being groomed for speaker and credited with engineering the 2006 takeover. Politico.
Steve Verdon, Outside the Beltway, channels Volokh on Emanuel’s vision for a new contract with America. Guess what, America does all the heavy lifting in this contract, with Verdon correctly veiws as a “statist/authoritarian’s wet dream.”
Fox hopefully notes the Israeli roots, says this mean Obama won’t take any crap from Iran. Maybe there is reason for hope. I note he’s not secretary of state or defense.
Fox also notes Emanuel’s reputation as a partisan Rahmbo, while House Minority Leader John Boehner observes:
“This is an ironic choice for a President-elect who has promised to change Washington, make politics more civil, and govern from the center.”
