War Crimes Against Bush!

I think what Andrew Sullivan must be refering to is the cowardice of Congress and Obama in wanting to bolt Iraq. Because cowardice and desertion are in fact crimes in war:

… Bush may issue a blanket pardon to protect his administration from war crimes.

I don’t see how pardoning Congress and Obama will keep them from being cowards, but Bush has proven himself able to make them do all kinds of things they don’t want to do, like keep supporting the war, and at long last, acknowledge we’re winning it. But as lefty blogger Digby, quoted by Sullivan, notes, this Congress probably is too gutless to attempt any war crimes upon the Bush administration, anyway.

A congressional commission would be great. But at the risk of sounding cynical, the odds of that happening are about as good as Sarah W. Palin becoming a Supreme Court justice. We’re now heavily into let bayhgones be bayhgones mode and I’d be shocked if this congress would do it.

You know, I was just going to Andrew Sullivan for laughs, but I find now I’m getting vital updates there. “Beyond the Tipping Point.”

General McCaffrey returns from Iraq:

“The bottom line,” McCaffrey writes, “is a dramatic and growing momentum for economic and security stability which is unlikely to be reversible. I would not characterize the situation as fragile.”

He was there; I’ve never been. But I wonder if he’s right. I sure hope he is.

Getting that from The Daily Dish (”To See What Is In Front of His Nose Needs A Constant Struggle“) is almost as good as getting those “O despair” letters earlier this year from al-Qaeda. May be a sign of a looming Sullivan surrender … to reality.

The irony of the political party that brought you the firebombing of Tokyo, and the atomic bomb attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki trying members of the Bush administration for war crimes because they dunked a couple of terrorists’ heads under water boggles the mind.

I’m sorry, I missed that part of history class. Since when did the Japan bombings become war crimes?

I have an idea, why don’t they charge Saddam and his sons with crimes against humanity posthumously?

Burning hundreds of thousands of civilians alive = O.K.

Ducking terrorists heads under water to loosen their tongues = not o.k.

    If you say so, bud.
