Stop Me If You’ve Heard This One …
It’s too bad Obama gets four years, maybe even eight, and not 15 minutes like all the other American Idol winners. Because as game an effort as the last couple weeks of the incoming Clinton-Bush administration song-and-dance act have been, the guy can’t carry a tune. It’s starting to look like his talent may lie in standup. He’s doing fine on the setup, but can he deliver a punch line?
Reynolds: it isn’t just the media that’s in the tank. So are the comedians.
Who wants to follow Obama’s act? Sometimes reality’s funnier than anything gagmeisters can come up with. Here’s more whining at Salon on the Great Disappointment.
This isn’t funny at all. Inflation as a remedy to economic woes? Mallaby at WPost likes Team Obama, “experienced technocrats — pragmatists who excel at imaginative improvization.” Sorry, I don’t understand any of this but don’t like the sound of that much.
It’s starting to look like Obama may steal a few lines from Bush’s script, but can’t pass up the opportunity to pan it. Newsweek on ”Torture Commission” proposals. Sounds like a three-ring circus, with dedicated U.S. agents engaged in a difficult war as the clown act.
This is pretty funny. Obama breaks with presidential tradition, steers clear of church, sticks to the treadmill. It eventually gets around to noting that, unlike his recent predecessors, his choice of churches was highly problematic. Politico via Gateway, who brings some of Obama’s old-time religion.
Comedic scholars will tell you absurd role-reversal makes funny. Turns out it’s not just Obama making like Clinton and Bush. Malkin on Bush, pre-socializing the economy for Obama.
I think we’ve heard this joke before. Hot Air on Obama’s WPA plans. Someone needs to tell that guy it was World War II that ended the Great Depression … and he’s already got World War V, waiting and in need of a refit.
This one will slay them. Rumsfeld at NYT explains how newly hawkish Obama is inheriting his bright ideas.
Ba-dump-dump.
OK, next act. Summons served on CAIR president at awards banquet.
With a nod to Memeorandum and RCP on the roundup.
