Get Sex
Globe & Mail reports that Brits say sex is up as free entertainment in cash-strapped times.
Cash-strapped Britons caught in the credit squeeze are turning to their main squeeze when it comes to looking for a free form of entertainment.
…
According to an Internet survey of more than 2,000 people across Britain by research company YouGov, 37 per cent rated sex as their top free activity. On average, that is.
There was, as you might expect, something of a difference between the figures for men and women. Fifty-three per cent of men listed sex as their favourite no-cost pastime. For women, it was 21 per cent, compared with 28 per cent who preferred having a good gossip.
“I just leave the men to draw their own conclusions from that,” Genevieve Edwards, communications director for the Terrence Higgins Trust, said in a telephone interview from London. THT, a charity dedicated to raising awareness of HIV issues and promoting healthy sexual practices, commissioned the survey and published the results on Monday to coincide with World AIDS Day.
“Obviously,” she said, “when people are thinking about going out and having dinner, that costs money. So they’re choosing to hunker down at home instead.”
Actually it looks more like they were just asked what they like to do for free. Commenter notes they must not be married, or they’d know there’s no free lunch. Scots apparently are having more, or claiming to. Commenter notes they aren’t slowed down by zippers, trousers. I think everyone’s having the same amount, which is not that much, and 37 percent just wish they were having more.
Hold up a sec. Only 37 percent of Brits consider sex their favorite free activity? I can buy the 21 percent of women statistic, but only 55 percent of blokes? Sounds more like the news is that 63 percent of Brits would rather gossip, go to a museum, window shop, or don’t know what they’d rather do. That’s right up there with those studies that say the average Brit only bathes once every three days and the average Frenchman wears the same underwear all week, something like that.
Here’s the Terrence Higgins Trust’s report, charts follow:

THT by the way is the same group last heard from on jihad against some firefighters who shone a light on four lads “dogging” in a public park.
