Top Story of 2009
Now taking predictions. My own favorite is:

Global warming having been debunked amid dropping temperatures as a current natural phenomenon let alone a manmade one; the underlying “settled science” having been shown to be grossly flawed; and the idea of “consensus” thrown out after howls of protest from a growing number of emboldened scientists who questioned it all along; a red-faced Nobel Prize Committee withdrew the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize it awarded to Al Gore.
“Vhåt were ve thinking? Avårding the vørld’s most august avård to å hypocritical pøl trying to remain relewånt by shilling å cheesy, factually distorted and hyperwentilåting cårtøøn of å døcumentåry? Wery embårråssing. Ve feel sø dirty,” said a key committee member who asked to be identified only as “Sven.”
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences stood by its Oscar, however, saying “An Inconvenient Truth” stands as a towering example of how documentary filmmakers can sway public opinion.
Speaking of influential documentaries, Hot Air has “The Twelve Days of Global Warming.”

My prediction: The media’s fascination with Obama’s six pack abs will shift to Joe Biden’s latest hair transplant.

My prediction: The NYT will be bought out by Rupert Murdoch, causing howls of outrage among the insulted left, despite the fact that the shine is going to come off Obama like water off a duck’s back.

Top candidates:
Obama ends recession.
Waxman starts criminal investigation of Bush.
Obama ends Iraq war.
And, don’t leave out:
Iran attacks Israel with nuclear weapons, is vaporized along with Syria in five hours.
Then, Russia attacks US Naval Fleet with long-range missiles sinking 28 warships including two main battle carriers, and 355 Russian warplanes are shot down in the second five hours while Obama drafts agenda for peace conference in the DMZ near Beirut.
Secret Service resigns en masse.

In October of 2009 the city of San Diego California becomes the largest modern city to burn to the ground, at the cost of over one million lives.
In California city workers as a class are declared vexatious litigants.
Pajamas Media buys the LA Times. Patrick Frey named editor in chief.
After a vociferous debate the Commonwealth of Massachusets gets out of the marriage business entirely; stating that the decision to get married, or terminate a marriage, is a private affair and none of government’s concern.
Evidence is discovered showing that Arnold Schwarzenegger was born out of wedlock to an American soldier serving in the U.S. 3rd Army during World War II. Making him a natural born U.S. citizen and thus eligible for the office of President of the United States.

The first woman president of the United States, Nancy Pelosi, takes office after Joe Biden shoots Barack Obama just before being taken out by the Secret Service.
