Tragedy
There’s a lot of it raining down on Gaza, as the Palestinian experiment in democracy continues. Yesterday, the news was two Palestinian schoolgirls killed, when missiles intended for Israeli schoolchildren fell short. The lede on the Globe and Mail’s wire rewrite says it all:
JERUSALEM — Two Palestinian girls were killed yesterday by Palestinian rockets intended for Israel that fell short of their target as Israel eased the blockade of Gaza to allow essential aid to enter.
Today, reports of Palestinian dead are up to 155 as Israel retaliates, via FOX. No word on who they voted for, but read on and you’ll see Israel appears to be carefully targeting Hamas voters … ward bosses, get-out-the-vote thugs, party appartachiks, the Provisional wing or Waffen Hamas, if you will. NYT’s eerily familiar art suggests it’s only a matter of time before the green helmet guy or one of his colleagues shows up with war crimes evidence:

GAZA CITY — The Israeli Air Force on Saturday launched a massive attack on Hamas targets throughout Gaza in retaliation for the recent heavy rocket fire from the area, hitting mostly security headquarters, training compounds and weapons storage facilities, the Israeli military and witnesses said.
Dr. Muawiya Hassanein, the head of emergency services at the Gaza Ministry of Health, said at least 140 Palestinians were killed in the raid.
Most were members of the security forces of Hamas, the Islamic group that controls Gaza, but a few civilians were also among the dead, including children. Scores more Palestinians were wounded.
The air attack came after days of warnings by Israeli officials that Israel would retaliate for intense rocket and mortar fire against Israeli towns and villages by Hamas and other militant groups in Gaza. On Wednesday alone, more than 60 rockets and mortars were fired, some reaching further than previously. While the rockets are meant to be deadly, and several houses and a factory were hit, sowing widespread panic, no Israelis were killed or seriously injured in the recent attacks.
A shaky Egyptian-brokered truce between Israel and Hamas started to break down in early November. Hamas had originally agreed to a six-month lull, and declared it officially over when the six-month period expired on Dec. 19.
Though Israel had been threatening to end its policy of restraint that saw only limited strikes against rocket launchers and squads in recent days, the timing of the raid came as a surprise to Gazans. It came in mid-morning, when official buildings and security compounds were filled with personnel and children were at school, and not, as many had anticipated, at night.
Expecting some kind of Israeli response, the Hamas leaders in Gaza had already been in hiding for two days.
Your Palestinian elected leadership in action.
In a statement issued immediately after the raid, the Israeli military warned that “This operation will be continued, expanded and intensified as much as will be required.”
At Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, scores of dead bodies were laid out in front of the morgue waiting for family members to identify them. Many were dismembered.
Inside the hospital, relatives carried a five-month old baby who had suffered a serious head wound from shrapnel. Overwhelmed, the hospital staff seemed unable to offer help.
Sad, considering it’s entirely unnecessary. At least the hospitals, if overwhelmed, seemed to be employed in trying to help people, rather than as Hamas execution zones.
via Yahoo, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, the response will expand as needed:
“There is a time for calm and there is a time for fighting, and now is the time for fighting.”
Ha’aretz analysis: Israel wants to teach Gaza a lesson, not reconquer … Good luck. The pupil has ADHamasD.
Ha’aretz with raid details and the encouraging word that Hamas “would not ’raise a white flag’ of surrender and would respond with all means available at their disposal,” which must mean they intend to keep being blown to smithereens by Israeli bombs.

Hot Air: Hamas gets its war. Looks to pull Egypt in. You’d think by now they’d have figured out the rest of the Muslim world long ago stopped giving a damn, beyond the usual gratuitous anti-American, Israel-bashing lip-flapping and angling to use the Palestinian problem for leverage elsewhere.
Israel Matzav looks at signs of ground ops shaping up, and notes that Israel must already be winning. The “World leaders” are calling for halt to violence … now that Israel is firing back.

Welcome Yahoo News readers, etal. Always good to see you. The next vote on George Bush, Liberator, is history’s. Will time favor him, and even note the grace with which he accepted his designated role as villain?

They were warned to stop the rockets. Some people just don’t listen.

Israel is once again brutalizing the Palestinians because of the American Zionist money that supports her aggression. We learn that one Israeli was killed by a Katusha (sp?) rocket? There are now over 200 dead Palestinians in Gaza? Why does Israel control any of Gaza? Why is Israel in control of road blocks, food and medical shipment? Israel is mistaken if she believes the U.S. in her current crisis has either the money or the intestinal fortitude to support her conflict with the Palestinian people. Our treasury is empty, our military is stressed, our new president understands on the most basic level, what oppression is about. He is not George Bush. His priorities are not on protecting Israeli interests, but on American needs. If the Arab world marshalls forces against Israel now, the U.S. does not have the luxury of playing protector. We are in crisis and perhaps that sad situation will finally provide the light at the end of this tunnel for the Palestinian people.

Well, let me tell you Joan, TOO BAD !! Its OK that these terrorists(yes, thats what they are) keep hurling rockets into INNOCENT CIVILIAN populations and MURDERING ISRAELIS but as soon as the terrorists get their behinds handed to them, ITS BRUTALIZATION?? Its OK for terrorists and the fools that follow them to cheer everytime an American or israeli gets maimed, but when the tide is turned, they all yell and scream its not right. I say keep bombing them & just let anyone of the other terrorist nations come to the aid of TERRORIST PALESTINE and see how the Israelis act without our need (USA). I am sure you were 1 of those who cheered at 9/11.
Israel brutalizing Palestine ?? lololololol
And I guess the suicide bombers who kill innocent Israelis are just misinformed.

Ain’t gonna happen, babe. Besides the fact, as Jules said, they’re all big hat and no cattle, this financial crisis is hurting the Arab world just as much as, or more than, it hurts us. Eventually the world isn’t going to need their oil anymore, and they don’t have a single thing else to offer. They don’t want to rock the boat too much at this point.

Joan.
Hamas and the other Palestinian Arabs have been making war on Israel for years, indeed decades. Now Israel is making war back. The Palis had lots of chances to make peace but blew every one of them out of a psychopathic lust to destroy Israel and kill the Jews. The ony agreements the Israelis ever got with the Palis were treaties of Hudabiya. Their treachery is now bring the Palis their just reward.
The Arab view, echoed by people like you, sems to be that the arabs can make war on Israel and kill Jews to their hearts’ content, but that Israel must not return fire in any way. That would be sinful. Well guess what, that’s bull.
The Israelis should remember that Dugout Doug was right: in war there is no substitute for victory. And in this case that means killing all the Hamas thugs and putting Gaza under the rule of some Arabs who will be too frightened of the consequences of attacking Israelis again to support terrorism there.

Joan,U shoot rockets, u are playing war
U play war, Israel plays war.
Israel plays war u die.
So stop playing war
As long as ur Palestinian Charter calls for the complete destruction of all Israel, u will play war.
So stop whining when gazans die.

Well, Joan, 200 is really not enough. Not even close to enough. Other than that I suggest that you immediately hie thy ignorant self to Gaza and get in the way. Hamas won’t be missed. Neither will you.

Personally I am appalled at the behavior of Isriel.
They should have dropped more bombs sooner, and not tried to distinguish between so called civilians and the fighters.
The Israelis act like a bunch of people trying to be politically correct, but not believing in it. Do what you believe in. Do what God is telling you to do. Like you should have in Biblical times. Kill every person in these villages you enter and take no prisoner. But Isriel did not do as it was told, and they suffered for many many years. Only recently did they get their land back.
I think each and every person living in Gaza is a enemy combatant, every age both male and female. Just like every Japanese was part of Japans war effort in WW2 and every American was part of the war effort in WW2, so are every one of Gaza citizens, and most of the Palestinians living everywhere in the world.. If they are not directly involved then they are breeding and raising the next generation of killers, or teaching them to hate or teaching them the importance of ISLAMS belief in REVENGE. If you understand their belief in revenge, you will understand the futility of a peace deal. Can you get a peace deal with a den of snakes? never!. Snakes are snakes, kill them all. Will you make a peace deal with the cancer growing in your own body? no of course not you will have it cut out and killed, you will not leave some canser for later, unless you want to die. You will not try to make peace with a cancer or a snake, so why do it with those that believe in revenge?
I see time drawing very close for a nuke to level Gaza (like in Japan) and end the “problem” once and for all. Gaza residents will never stop seaking revenge,
YOU MUST UNDERSTAND THAT.
Gaza citizens do not help anyone in the world but themselves. They produce nothing. They live on aid. And put their energies towards destroying Isriel.
Those that believe in revenge are labeled as weeds in a field of good grain. The weeds will be bundled and thrown into the fire at threshing time, which seems to be now…..
So Isriel get to it! The world is tired of your half steps. FIX THE PROBLEM.

Quote from news story:
As Israel bombed Gaza, defiant Hamas leaders threatened revenge. Hamas “will continue the resistance until the last drop of blood,” vowed spokesman Fawzi Barhoum.
They believe in REVENGE that belief is the main problem, in the mid east..
Lets remove (from the gene pool) everyone who believes in revenge.
Then everything will settle down and people who believe in forgiveness can live there, and spread their belief in forgiveness.
If forgiveness could replace the belief in REVENGE there would be peace in Gaza today, and forever.

Joan.
Hamas and the other Palestinian Arabs have been making war on Israel for years, indeed decades.
The truth sure has a way of being twisted! Lonie
The Palestinians country was taken from them base on the Bible! The land was Israelie because God ordained it! Before 1946 there was no Israel! Period! None!
Israel won because the west helped out of guilt over the holucast. In return the Palestinians were told they would not be compensated in any form for living on this land for 1000’s of years uninterrupted. Leave your homes, schools shops, and go wander the desert, go die. That’s what they were given Imagine that! After living there for 1000’s of years. How would you feel?
Would you fight? Would you die? You say you would die for the US if the Indians wanted there country back?
The Middle East will always be this way! Because Americans believe it’s a one sided problem. They aren’t trying to conquer Israel they are trying to get there land back.
Israel and the Palestinians should be wiped from the face of there earth, so that the rest of us can get on with life. Better yet give them both the bomb, so they can nuke each other. These two fanatics are drilling a hole in our boat in stormy seas.We will all drown. There are 1.2 billion Muslims in the world what happens when they all join your beautiful war. Both countries are fighting on a hate that goes back thousands of years. Americans are too stupid to understand both sides and because of that we support one against the other rather then both for peace.
I agree they should be wiped out, both of them.

The Isralies live on aid!American Aid! To the tune of 10’s of Billions a year!
They product nothing but technology for war and killing. They do produce tomatoes(vine-ripped).Stock brokers who cheat people out of billions.
If I were president these are the first two places that would cease to exist.
Because they are stupid! Truly stupid.
