Boneheaded New World

The modern battlespace is a trip. Roundup starts with important news of boneheaded meddlers, trying to run the blockade into Gaza, encountering difficulties. Atlanta Journal Constitution

A boat carrying international peace activists, including former Georgia congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, and medical supplies to the embattled Gaza Strip sailed back into a Lebanese port on Tuesday after being turned back and damaged by the Israeli navy, organizers of the trip said.

The crowds on the docks in the Lebanese port city of Tyre were jubilant and cheering as they welcomed the vessel.

Because in modern warfare, failure = victory. You know how it works. Victory = failure. Multiple rights = greater wrong. Heinous, unspeakable acts of terrorism = third-world liberation movement. Torture = whatever political adversaries say it is. War crimes = things committed by US and Israeli troops. Blank = the amount of attention paid to Islamist terrorist outrages. Etc.

The boat, which set off from Cyprus Monday wanted to make a statement and deliver medical supplies to embattled Gaza. The trip’s organizers said the boat was clearly in international waters, 90 miles off the coast of Gaza, at the time of its close encounter with the Israeli navy.

“Our boat was rammed three times, twice in the front and one on the side,” McKinney told CNN Tuesday morning. “Our mission was a peaceful mission. Our mission was thwarted by the aggressiveness of the Israeli military.”

Yigal Palmor, a spokesman for Israel’s Foreign Ministry, denied there had been any shooting although the two ships had made “physical contact.”

Hey, being a peace activist, an ex-congresswoman, a reporter, whatever, doesn’t make you immune to gunfire or ramming or anything else that might occur when you venture into the middle of someone else’s war. These nitwits, having come out alive, are good for a laugh. They’re lucky they aren’t dead. Especially given the likelihood that other, more maliciously intentioned meddlers probably are interested in making runs into Gaza. Art, links, vid and mockery at Gateway.

Malkin: cruelly, Israeli Navy turns back S.S. Moonbat. I feel a Gilligan’s Island rewrite coming on.*

Operation Spank Hamas meanwhile is also being fought in the ether. JPost on the IDF’s Gaza YouTube channel. Anyone care to bet how long before the Zionist entity’s propaganda vehicle is shut down in the interest of reasonable and tasteful Kumbayahist terrorism enablance? We have a winner: Conf Yank on YouTube’s photofinishing terms of use violation slap on the IDF.

In actual war news, Israel tells the Euro Commission and assorted Arabs to get stuffed. WPost:

European foreign ministers are scheduled to meet in Paris Tuesday and Arab diplomats are set to gather in Cairo on Wednesday to try to address the four days of intense violence, with Israeli planes conducting hundreds of strikes, and Hamas militants firing hundreds of rockets — including some of its farthest reaching ever — into Israeli territory.

In advance of the Paris session, the European Commission called for “an immediate halt to military hostilities” in order to spare Gaza’s civilian population, while demanding that Hamas also stop firing its rockets into Israel. United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Monday had also called for a cease-fire.

Israeli leaders reemphasized that they were prepared for an extended effort to cripple Hamas.

Although the pace of bombing appeared to slow on Tuesday, Interior Minister Meir Sheetrit told Israel Radio that at this point “there is no room for a cease-fire,” according to news reports from the region. “The Israeli army must not stop the operation before breaking the will of the Palestinians, of Hamas, to continue to fire at Israel.”

Sounds to me like there’s only one when that ends. With Hamas … broken.

Bret Stephens at WSJ on the one big thing Hamas knows … if this ends without their utter annihiliation, it’s a win.

Clintonista/UN Human Rights Commission delegate Jeff Robbins at the Boston Globe, of all places, on the vicitms of Hamas. Innocent Israelis and innocent Palestinians. Great read … though I’d argue that Palestinians who voted in a terrorist group may have been naive but can hardly be called innocent.

But don’t just take his word for it. Via Hot Air, injured Palestinian girl: Hamas is the cause of all wars. Some thinking this is Fatah propaganda, to which I say … given all the eagerly swallowed pro-Hamas propaganda out there, what’s the rush to condemn this?

Hot Air also with some thoughts on how operations vs Hamas transcend right/wrong, smart/stupid

Ha’artez editorial: Hamas is hoping for a ground offensive, while Israel inches toward a truce. I guess I’m with Hamas on that one, though once the Shlomos pulls that trigger I hope they don’t intend to do settle for half-measures and give Hamas its victory (see Stephens at WSJ above).

Yeah, well, JPost has DefMin Ehud Barak promising operations will intensify “as much as needed to meet the goals we set for ourselves; to bring quiet to the South,” while Olmert has set no time limit. By the way, memo to McKinney and other boneheads … JPost report indicates the IDF is allowing approved humanitarian aid convoys in. It’s the unapproved peacenik grandstanding that could provide cover for terrorist ruses that the IDF takes a dim view of.

Different, related. Citing economic bad news mainly, Chris Smith at TNR wishes for an expedited New Year’s Day inauguration to get the Messiah upon the throne ASAP. Doesn’t appear to have noticed what is starting to look like Obama’s cheek-turning is starting to look like nervousness at the prospect of that fast-approaching day when he’ll have to, you know, do stuff. Hey, as long as he’s adopting the Bush-Clinton admins wholesale, how about being done with it and appointing Cheney as shadow president, and like I said before, the Valkyrie as War Czar.

* McKinney’s Riled

Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from this dusty port
Aboard this tiny ship.

The ex-congresswoman was a confirmed dingbat,
The peaceniks terrorist-enablers, too.
A boatload of moonbats set sail that day
For a blockade-running tour, a blockade-running tour.

The Zionist entity’s gunboat started playing rough,
The tiny ship was tossed,
If not for the panic of the peacenik crew
The Moonbat would be lost. The Moonbat would be lost.

The ship sailed back into Tyre, looking like it had hit a rock
With McKinney …
the peaceniks too,
Cheered on by a convenient mob of Arab dopes,
And a media stud
From the network called CNN
All part of McKinney’s bid to rile!

I say let Cynthia McCrazyEyes and her rogues’ gallery land in Gaza… and make them stay there until it’s over. Let the stupid knotheads experience real war, amid the realization that nobody really cares what happens to them. That’ll put an end to that impulse to play Humanitarian Martyr.

““Our mission was a peaceful mission. Our mission was thwarted by the aggressiveness of the Israeli military.”
    - ahem, Israeli aggressiveness is what is going on against Hamas, not pushing your ill-conceived plan aside.

“McKinney called on President-elect Obama to address the Gaza crisis, saying the weapons being used by Israel were supplied by the United States.”
    - ahem, naturally you’d prefer to let the Trans-Jordanians in the Gaza Strip use those same weapons AGAINST Israel. Too bad, so sad.
