Your Great Support And Readership
Always appreciated. Received a complaint about the site’s loading speed, apparently bogged down by the recent addition of several Amazon widgets. They are a great form of lucrative expression, allowing me to run the boutique armchair warmonger’s bookshop/historical obsessive compulsive disorder clinic I’ve always dreamed of, while making some additional income off an effort that occupies a fair amount of time and periodically annoys the wife and kids.
Readers are buying a wide variety of items beyond what I’ve featured, and seem to like the opportunity to buy through the site. Many thanks to all who have purchased great literature, stirring music, inspiring cinematic works, wondrous electronic devices, as well as cheap pulp fiction, B flicks, stuff even Lawrence Welk wouldn’t listen to, batteries and the odd cozy sweater and leg warmer set. Most purchases produce small finder’s fees which contribute to the mosaic of income sources that allow me to delude myself into thinking this is all somehow worth it.
Fortunately, I decided years ago that enjoying what I do is worth more than money, so I’m ahead of that game. I had noticed the slow loading and will knock off a couple of widgets, and see what that does.
Your readership, comments, patronage and feedback are greatly appreciated. PayPal icon at left, by the way, for those who wish to support the site but already have full attics and plenty to read.

Jules,
Any readers who are seriously affected by the slow loading would most likely benefit from an RSS reader for your blog’s feed.

Jules,
It is a pleasure to have access to such a writer as yourself. You are a wordsmith and it’s a reason why I visit here often. I understand your comments about the work being worth more than the income, that effort is it’s own reward. I’m a musician, and have also done work in film and television. It’s good money when it comes in, not so much in between. I have told folks that the easiest way to make a small fortune in the entertainment business is to start with a large one.
What I also like about this site is that you are honest and take a factul, objective view of things. You note your own biases, rather than let the reader wonder. That’s what journalism is supposed to be. Tell the story honestly, and let the reader come to a conclusion on their own. You do that, and do it well.
Regardless, this old sailor appreciates the effort and the time it takes. It isn’t much from me, but thanks.
respects,

You’re welcome. It’s nothing really.
I like books and music, so when I begin drawing Soc. Sec. continuously (one more week, hallelujah!), thus taking the bread out of the mouths of the babes of Gen XY, I will probably be a little more supportive.
