Sex Talk
For some reason, people are engaging in it. The talk, that is. The Other McCain examines the Chinese “rich guys give women more orgasms” thing.
It’s pretty straightforward. TOMcC has the details here, so I won’t get into them. Suffice it to say women seem to be more turned on when having sexual relations with rich guys than poor guys.
TOMcC gets a little off track when he cites studies suggesting that having lots of money means a man is statistically more likely to be attractive in other ways. Tall, intelligent, healthy. But the fact is we don’t know whether the short, sickly ones with bad skin and lots of money are any less likely to induce moans.
Not mentioned by TOMcC is the possibility that there may however be a subtle cash-related power or ease-of-manner thing that women are glomming onto and find attractive, quite apart from the piles of cash. I dunno.
TOMcC has two suggestions for control experiments. One was already done by “The Bachelor,” the reality TV show that notoriously paired a broke carpenter with hotties who were led to believe he was fabulously wealthy, proving the Other McCain’s point about the ease with which gorgeous women can be fooled into thinking a common lout is highly attractive.
The other experiment, which involves giving the Other McCain a lot of money to see what impact it has on his marital relations, hardly seems necessary as althouh the precise mechanisms are not fully understood, it is well established that most women are inherently turned on by piles of cash. His proposal also fails to control for the possibility that Mrs. TOMcC presumeably already has some affection for TOMcC, as well as compatibility with or at least tolerance of his moves and peccadillos, whatever they may be.
TOMcC also disparages the recent studies that found that more American men are having sex with more women than American women are having with men. What he didn’t consider is the “hounddog/skank” factor. A large number of American men may be having a lot of that sex a relatively small pool of women.
TOMcC hits the G spot with this observation, however, that the sex studies …
… demonstrate that science is a feeble instrument for understanding sex.
When researchers actually do manage to “discover” some great truth about sex, it usually has a dog-bites-man obviousness, science proving what ordinary people already know through common sense. Women have always preferred high-income partners, as Professor Pollet might have discovered by surveying guys who ride mopeds and work as convenience store clerks.
TOMcC also has the news that Stephen Baldwin may have convinced the $3.7 million virgin to keep it. I dunno. Go for the cash before the bubble bursts, Natalie! What you’re selling isn’t worth a damn anymore anyway!
OK, moving on, Dr. Helen and the Advice Goddess, who are hot, talk about sex. No, it’s not like that, you perv. Lots of free advice, free associating and free-range philosophizing at PJTV. As Mr. Helen notes, the money quote is: “People who are not putting out for their partners are making a big mistake.”
Ace joins in. Sheesh, it’s like a menagerie trois* around here. What with all the sudden interest in sex?
* French for “three zoos.” Watch Animal Planet late at night and you’ll see what that means. Speaking of which, this looks like a good place to link Bloodhound Gang’s fine funk/rap fusion anthem to doing the nasty: “(You And Me Baby) Ain’t Nothing But Mammals (So Let’s Do It Like They Do On The Discovery Channel).” NSFAnything.
Welcome, Punditeers! Always good to see you. Yeah, we’re steaming up the windows. A little distraction from, you know, the Vapid Insufferability.

Could it be that the social safety net in China is so ragged that the relief of being with someone who has a secure future is so relaxing that orgasm can be reached? if this is the case, then any comparison would be null.
There have been stories of the gov’t cutting off medical support to those that aren’t on the dole. The scene at hospitals is one of under-employed people begging doctors and nurses for help and the staff not being able to respond.
