Business As Usual

Prime Minister Ehud Olmert pledged on Sunday a “disproportionate” military response to continuing rocket salvoes that Palestinian militants have described as payback for fresh Israeli attacks.

But his defence minister, Ehud Barak, signalled Israel would stop short of all-out war.

“It is not our intention to have an Operation Cast Lead 2,” he said in an interview with the YNet news Web site.

“We said there would be a response and there was a response last night,” he said about Sunday’s air strikes.

As disappointing as it is that Israel is holding off on the disproportionality, it is refreshing to see the concept embraced in the face of global squawking. It’s the ongoing negotiations, which have, let’s see, exactly zero chance of stopping Hamas from being an active terrorist organization. Here’s an idea. Try to get Shalit back, Hamas terrorist swap if need be, then resume terrorist extermination operations after the next mortar-lobbing.  Because once Hamas prisoners are freed from Israeli prisons where they are busy gobbling Israeli food, and they become active Hamas terrorists again, they can be killed with Israeli missiles. It’s a win-win.

On a lighter note, Kate has fun with Hamas vid: ” … They Blow Up So Fast.” Allahu Akhbar indeed.
