“President Obama’s Deeply Unpopular Stimulus Plan”

Now that it’s submerged to Bush/Iraq War depths in polling, whosoever of ye first espies that white whale of a phrase in the reportage, please let me know. via Surber, who likes the Daschle-Geithner-Ishmael plan.

Related, not so different. Michael Graham reports that Barney Frank has developed a sudden interest in the anger of the American people … now that it’s about executive compensation packages and not his own.

Totally related, Jennifer Rubin fisks POTUS. Snowe Job.

G’day Punditeers, always so good to see you. Not exactly related, but tragically of a piece: The Last Honest Reporter In Washington … he loved too well. In other business, we’re cranking the Derka-fusion today. Sounds of Shaitan. Also, the wife’s novel, launched in Old Blighty today, gets a(nother) rave. What did I tell you, she’s hot and she can write, too.

Even more interesting than the love/hate stats for the current plan in the survey are the results about how people would like the plan if it were (a) only tax cuts, or (b) only new spending.

If it were ONLY tax cuts, the public would favor it 45/34. If it were ONLY the new spending, the public would oppose it 72/15.

Yes, you read that right. The public favors tax cuts by 4 to 3, and opposes the “new spending” part of the “stimulus” plan by almost 5 to 1.

    Congresscritters, are you paying attention?

If we do not keep up the pressure when they scale it back, we’ll get a $600 billion boondoggle instead of a $900 billion dollar one, and they will all brag about how fiscally responsible they were by scaling it back. We need to let our voices be heard over and over again.

Stimulus plan? Its a $ 1.2 trillion dollar PONZI scheme that will return empty promises of hope, change and economic recovery. The Maddof scam was puny compared to this so-called economic stimulus fiasco.

“CBO, the official scorekeepers for legislation, said the House and Senate bills will help in the short term but result in so much government debt that within a few years they would crowd out private investment, actually leading to a lower Gross Domestic Product over the next 10 years than if the government had done nothing. ”

    Lovely.
