Municipal Porn Archive Lost

The pornographical records of the city of Leeuwarden seem to have gone astray

The city of Leeuwarden has lost its official pornography collection, the Telegraaf reports on Thursday.

The paper says the archive was created in the 1970s when it was official policy to document everything to do with the city - including pornographic pictures.

But the collection had no permanent storage space and appears to have been lost during a removal, the paper says.

I don’t believe my town, or the city I work in, have pornographical records, but I could be wrong. Maybe it’s time to dispatch the City Hall reporter to check. Or write a letter to the Board of Selectmen. Theoretically the Boston Public Library might have some naughty pictures, but historically there isn’t a lot of tolerance for that kind of thing around here. It’s just another area in which the Dutch are more advanced that us. At least for the moment. I’m not sure Sharia municipal law makes provisions for maintaining pornographic archives, and Boston may make Amsterdam look tame if things keep going the way they’ve been going.

Before you get too excited, it sounds like Leeuwarden may not be that interesting a place. Or it is, and they’ve been too busy … you know … to see to the paperwork. AP reports the missing archives would fit in a shoe box. Leeuwarden city official:

“We’re hoping that someone will say ‘Hey, I have that in my attic’ and bring it back … No questions asked.”

Attic. Sock drawer. Under the mattress. Some place like that. I have a feeling this is going to turn up on Antiques Roadshow Leeuwaren in about 50 years. Or in a Christie’s catalog … to be followed by the inevitable lawsuit.

The Other McCain reckons he knows where it is.
