Quote Of The Week

2009-02-18-cartoon.jpg

Re that the controversial NY Post cartoon and whether the economic stimulus bill-writing chimp represents President Barack Obama, Dan Collins at Protein Wisdom:

“Hell, Obama didn’t even read the damn thing.”

He means the bill. NY Post to the hyperventilators: “Sometimes a cartoon is just a cartoon.”

I’m still trying to figure out how comparing Congress to a bloated, rampaging, lobster-fed, alcoholic chimp is racist. Shooting Congress sounds like a thoughtful, measured editorial position.

Toon rage! Angry protestors, who apparently don’t know who wrote the stimulus bill, march outside the Post to denounce the depiction of the president as a dead chimp. Toon rage protocol calls for them to start burning embassies and boycotting products. Rupert Murdoch is an American citizen. This could get complicated.

Hyperventilation Post reports unhappiness, shame, anger and bewilderment at the NY Post over the cartoon. Sure. You’ll always find people at any tabloid who think it’s beneath them, think they’re better, figure they belong somewhere more exalted. Don’t get it. Yet, there they are.

Gateway roundups up NY Post’s righteous Jihad on Sharpton. No bloated, rampaging hominid jokes, please.

Malkin pokes it with a stick. “Going Ape over the New York Post.” She’s also got some helpful advice from a reader on … I’m not sure what this wackadoo double-reverse racist is on about.

Topics: Obama, apes, pols

Why is it only liberals who saw the chimp as representing President Obama? Doesn’t that make them the racists?
