Tool Time

Images of women in bikinis prompted brain responses in men associated with using tools.

Important new study shows that men get excited about women in bikinis in the same part of the brain that is associated with handling tools. Well, yeah. It’s a holdover from adolescence, when the sight of a girl in a bikini makes any guy want to handle his tool. Later on, the guy learns how to use dinner, movies, flowers, flattery, alcohol, that kind of stuff, get the girls in bikinis to … never mind. Psychologist Susan Fiske, naturally, concluded this was an objectifying of women. Clearly not getting the objectifying of tools part. CNN.

And her point is? Sometimes, a tool is just a tool.

But, yeah… doesn’t she ever realize that men and women are created in certain fashions in order to ATTRACT each other? Has no one ever set her down and calmly explained to her the theories about procreation? Why procreation is important to the continuation of the species?

Nature’s a funny thing, you know? Humans are wired to WANT to do pleasurable things. It’s nature’s way of ensuring that they engage in actions likely to result in more humans.

Some folks seem to have far too much time on their hands, coupled with a need to feel important. Susan Fiske is apparently one of them. Talk about over-analyzing. Though, in her case, someone ought to point out that you can’t spell analyze without anal.

Now that reminds me. I need to order my 2009 New England Patriots Cheerleader calendar. :)

There’s “objectifying” and there’s “not objectifying”. Men don’t do “not objectifying”.
