Unless he’s eligible for recompensation, job training, unemployment, etc., in which case it’s a wash. As long as he doesn’t blow anything up, I mean.

Even Old European politicians have acquired some understanding of the limits of goverment and the need for some spending discipline. Not that I recommend becoming like France. But some northern European countries at least have a competent and honest public administration. They offer far less opportunity but are by and large well run. The Channel Tunnel had cost overruns - we are talking about 30 miles of undersea tunnel here - but it still cost less than the Big Dig in Boston.
But America isn´t Germany, thankfully. It needs to be America. My fear is that if they try to change America into something else, it will not even become European but something far worse.
