Slumdog Governor
Bobby Jindal, Rhodes scholar of Indian descent, inspiring rising star out of the political slum known as Louisiana, gets his national closeup tonight, delivering the Republican response to Obama’s pitch tonight for post-binge sobriety. NPR suggests Jindal’s too early out the gate. SF Chron calls him an overload of cute.
Obama, meanwhile, wants Jindal to put off his campaign so it won’t interfere with Obama’s, via LA Times Top of the Ticket. OK, that’s not exactly how Obama put it, but it sounds like Jindal’s got their attention, maybe hitting some nerves. Charismatic ethnic guy who talks good? That’s Obama’s franchise.
This is Obama’s show. Better let the guy get a word in edgewise. CNN:
President Obama’s address Tuesday to a joint session of Congress will have a heavy emphasis on the economy and will try to strike an optimistic tone, aides said.
That’s a sign Obama has heard the criticism, including from former President Clinton, that he needs to mix sober talk with an upbeat bottom line.
“He believes we will meet these challenges and lift ourselves out of this” recession, one top aide said. “He will say, ‘The best days are ahead of us.’ “
So he got the message. It’s “We have nothing to fear but fear itself.” Not “PANIC!”
CSM on GOP govs Jindal, Barbour and Sanford rejecting Obama’s largesse. Thanks but no thanks on renewed welfare state, a principled stance or 2012 kickoff? Well, what about the other 8 govs? Sounds like a crowded field. And what are all those Democrats running for?
Moderate Voice, increasingly racist lately, can’t believe that the GOP has gone from John McCain and Sarah Palin to Michael Steele and Bobby Jindal in a few short months. What is it MV has against actual leadership experience?
Bio and more on why the cultural and fiscal conservative PO’s the Dems via Politico.
Some upstart Slumdog Governor, it’s the last thing Obama needs when he’s facing off a Nation of Santellis.

I’ve got my money on a hugely pessimistic address tonight. I do not think Obama is capable of loosening up, looking relaxed, striking a more even non-doom and gloom tone when he is acting the part of a politician anymore. In all seriousness, the guy needs to take a few shots of tequila before making pronouncements, otherwise, very negative.
I predict a 350 point drop in the market tomorrow, and the need for lots of sleep supplements after tonight’s Sermon.

The fear and dread that people like Bobby Jindal and Sarah Palin evoke among the Left is a beautiful thing. The degree of anxiety is in direct proportion to how close the blow is striking, and these apparently strike the closest.
It’s fun in a cruel sort of way to sneak up on a liberal and just say, “Sarah.” It’s probably as immoral as setting cats on fire but it’s much harder to resist.
Obama can change his message; he just does what Axelrod tells him to do, and even Axelrod is getting a clue.
Meanwhile, we’re all going downtown looking for cases of tea.

Dear Mr. Crittenden,
Thank you for linking to my post at The Moderate Voice – it’s a re-post (not a riposte) from my blog Writes Like She Talks.
I sense that maybe you didn’t read the entire piece, though it wasn’t very long. However, if you go to my blog and search on Bobby Jindal, you’ll find posts going way back to when he first was up for election and you will find praise from me on his work with the LA state legislature.
I realize that this is your blog and you may have some agenda and an audience to feed, but it’s rather weak to try and smear what I’ve written as a) being racist and b) having anything to do with an attack on leadership. Again, if you took the time to read, you’d know that I supported Jindal as McCain’s VP before McCain selected anyone. Why? Because of his leadership.
If you have questions about why one co-blogger on TMV writes a certain something, really – you could just leave a comment to that effect or check out each of our personal blogs. Joe Gandelman is a big tent person and I’m happy to be one of a very broad spectrum of voices there.
Thanks again for linking to my post – it has nearly 50 comments – no one else thought about racism or leadership smearing. Maybe it’s just your pair of lenses that you’ve got on today.

Sheesh. I guess you told me. You’re right, it did kind of run on and had an incomprehensibility problem. So what is it with you people and race, anyway?

Mr. Crittenden,
Who and what is this – this “you people and race” you speak of? You are just still not making any sense. Is that typical for you?

Miss Zimon
1. Comprehension- you’re missing it.
2. Accuracy- your post has 3 comments; your repost has +50.
3. “I know what it is to not understand …”- we’re on your side, but you should try for comprehension before explication; we are haplessly achieving your lack of understanding.
4. Example: “I mean, they actually literally are in denial about how it happened and that it’s the way it is and they just, don’t, like it.” Like, you’re right, and all that. Do you, really understand, what you writted?
Cheers

Hey JM!
What is this “writted” you speak of? Thanks.

Jindal signed a bill pushing “Intelligent Design” aka “Creationism” into the Louisiana public schools system, and as such, will not get my vote in the primary, nor will i hold my nose in November and vote for him if he is ramrodded through to the nomination. there has been much discussion about this over on LGF, and i am not alone in this opinion.
Jindal is a dead weight on Republican hopes to recapture the middle voters: let him stay where he is successful.

Charismatic ethnic guy who talks good? That’s Obama’s franchise.
Jindal is also a conservative who believes in something, and sticks by his principles. That’s gotta give President Oflipflop the shivers.
