Cold War
MEMRI posits that is what has been going on, from Lebanon to Gaza, between Saudi Arabia and Iran. One caveat. While Hamas and Hezbollah are Iranian proxies, Israel is hardly Saudi’s. More a matter of enlightened self-interest in Saudi actions. And while Israel obviously considers world and Arab opinion in its actions, specifically their termination, Israel has not been fully supported as a foil against Iran by either the Saudis or the United States. And the not particularly Cold War bleeds on.
