Warning Shot

Across North Korea’s bow as Japan grows a set, warns ahead of NK satellite launch it will ding any dongs headed its way. UK Guardian. The K’s “peaceful space program” is perceived as a skirt for its Taepodong-2 ballistic missile program, and another thumbing of the nose at us. Sounds like a good opportunity to test missile defenses. Better hit it, though, or Kim scores the point.

Closing Velocity looks at the numbers, posits the K’s are planning a Japan overflight headed for Hawaii.

Meanwhile, in another unexpected show of force, Obama dispatches warships to escort the Naval survey ship Impeccable. Times of London.
