Because Petraeus has signed on to speak at a commencement there in 2010. Interesting. Sometimes a commencement speech is just a commencement speech. Bully pulpit, though. UK Spectator and Weekly Standard, which notes he’s also going to Princeton. Could be interesting, but it would need to be a lot more than a war candidacy. 2010’s a ways out though, and 2012 is even farther.
UPDATE: CentCom denies all, from the Iowa gig to 2012 ambitions to any out-of-uniform ambitions at all.
Moderate Voice looks at the history of presidential generals, notes the sense of a nation at war has been on the decline. Obama is unlikely to reverse that no matter how he bollixes it, given his constituency’s willingness to embrace abandonment at all costs. Petraeus might do better with an economic counterinsurgency strategy on the Dems. If a run is what he has in mind at all.

Jammie Wearing Fool looks down the road at the prospects for an Obama smear campaign on Petraeus. I kind of doubt Meghan McCain will be leading that charge, though. Brooks or Frum, either.
Speaking of Meghan McCain, Malkin with a few thoughts. I guess my thought is, media sideshow. Hot Air with thoughts on the not particularly weighty weight issue. A party or a side that gets hung up on this kind of nonsense is pretty deep in the wilderness. Dan re Meghan: Get Riehl.
