Because Petraeus has signed on to speak at a commencement there in 2010. Interesting. Sometimes a commencement speech is just a commencement speech. Bully pulpit, though. UK Spectator and Weekly Standard, which notes he’s also going to Princeton. Could be interesting, but it would need to be a lot more than a war candidacy. 2010’s a ways out though, and 2012 is even farther.

Moderate Voice looks at the history of presidential generals, notes the sense of a nation at war has been on the decline. Obama is unlikely to reverse that no matter how he bollixes it, given his constituency’s willingness to embrace abandonment at all costs. Petraeus might do better with an economic counterinsurgency strategy on the Dems. If a run is what he has in mind at all.
