Is Nothing Sacred?

Variety: Sean Penn to play Larry, Jim Carrey to play Curly, Benicio del Toro to play Moe in Farrelly brothers Stooge flick. Not a biopic, an actual “Stooge” feature.
Why improve on perfection? Maybe it’s meant to be a tribute. That cast sounds like an abomination. You want a Stooges tribute, have a three-day Stooge-a-thon. Or maybe something simple, like this plaintive 1986 song by Guadalcanal Diary. “I see Moe.”
I see Moe, I see Moe
Sometimes when I look in the mirror
I see MoeI’m alone, I’m all alone
but I never see Larry or Curly
I just see MoeI don’t know what’s wrong, Moe is dead and gone
but part of him lives on in meNow I got friends, yeah that’s for sure
but Larry and Curly don’t come around much anymoreI don’t know what’s wrong, Moe is dead and gone
but part of him lives on in meAnd I see Moe, I see Moe
Sometimes when I look in the mirror
I see Moe
Well, who wouldn’t want to be Moe. The smart one. The boss. The one with the plan.

Harmless and it will die the death.
Much better than this clip of Onion “comedy” over at my place.

I wouldn’t mind hearing what you have to say about this one.
