Miss Universe Organizers Lose Character Competition

The Miss Universe Organization weenies out on Miss Universe’s rave review of sunny Guantanamo. NYT: Blog Post Vanishes.
It’s a disappointment. The Miss Universe creed is pretty much pro-Gitmo on its face.
“We, the young women of the universe, believe people everywhere are seeking peace, tolerance and mutual understanding. We pledge to spread this message in every way we can, wherever we go.”
Why would the pageant organizers shy away from support for a place where intolerant people who seek war, spread terror, and abuse women are locked up? On second thought, if the Miss Universe Organization actually believes people everywhere are seeking peace, maybe they should go back to Gitmo for a chat with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed:
“With regards to these nine accusations that you are putting us on trial for, to us, they are not accusations. To us they are badges of honour, which we carry with pride.”
“Our religion is a religion of fear and terror to the enemies of God: the Jews, Christians, and pagans. With God’s willing, we are terrorists to the bone.”
Miss Universe organizers also place a premium on manners. Abruptly pulling pleasant comments because of some third party political issues seems a little rude. Not very troop supporty. Kind of spineless, in fact. Bad posture. After all, we’re talking about a United States military facility that Obama admin officials have said is well run.
Moving on, indignant glam blogger denouncing the delightful Miss Venezuela/Miss Universe declares I’m “a symptom of all that is wrong and unholy in the world.” That’s a new one. International art thief, war criminal, sure. That one’s pretty grandiose, though. I’ll have to tell the kids. Pinko gossipista Cindy, who could stand to learn a thing or two about lady-like language from the Miss Universe crowd, makes some vaguely anti-beauty queenist remarks and takes offense to this praise I offered the lovely Dayana Mendoza:
It’s like she’s the In-Your-Face Ambassador of Free World Hotness to the Commie Holdout World.
Previously, Miss Universe Hearts Guantanamo, with Miss Universe art. NSF Jihadis.

JWF,
Yeah, it’s getting harder and harder to keep a breast of this issue…..
I wonder how much influence ol’ Hugo had on this disappearing act, since she’s a Venezuelan National?
