Double Personal Jinx

On Obama, in Turkey, for repeating Bush again. AP:

“Let me say this as clearly as I can,” Obama said. “The United States is not and never will be at war with Islam. In fact, our partnership with the Muslim world is critical … in rolling back a fringe ideology that people of all faiths reject.”

The U.S. president is trying to mend fences with a Muslim world that felt it had been blamed by America for the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Jinx! Obama owes Bush a Coke.

Obama’s visit is being closely watched by an Islamic world that harbored deep distrust of his predecessor, George W. Bush.

AP neglects to mention that it’s a Bush line, repeatedly stated, while the Twin Towers and Pentagon were still smoking and throughout his administration, that we were not at war with Islam. AP owes Bush more than a Coke. AP owes Bush, America’s news-reading public and its own paying clients an apology for years of distorted coverage.

Meanwhile, AP also neglects to mention that the Turkish secularism touted by Obama, somewhat strained lately, is as unpopular in the Muslim world as our own secularism.

Welcome Hot Air, etal. Always good to see you. Come on in. We’re having some fun with Kim today. I know, easy sport. We’re also marking the day, six years ago, when I decided if everyone else had to jump off a cliff, I would, too.  Remember to patronize Crittenden’s Boutique Right-Wing Warmonger Bookshop & General Store for all your not-at-war-with-Islam needs.

    Jules,

The United States may not be at war with Islam, but I can’t help feeling that Islam is at war with the United States.

Just because you don’t have a beef with your neighbor it doesn’t follow that he’s happy with you.

I believe more strongly, with each passing day, that our Executive Branch is more interested in the style of Diplomacy, vice it’s substance.
