Many Years of Tabloid Happiness

I dunno how much of a career either of these people has left, but they may have, for tabloid purposes, transcended the need for one. I have a feeling the tabloids of America and the world could be happily selling papers off this lovely celeb couple for years to come. They may, in their own small way, even help keep newspapers alive. Boston Herald:
Two paparazzi say they “narrowly escaped death” when Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen’s security guards fired at them outside her beachside wedding to Patriots QB/QT Tom Brady in Costa Rica Saturday. No one was reported hurt in the incident, but Costa Rica police are investigating.
“Are they insane?” photographer Yuri Cortez told INF Daily, after covering the wedding for INF picture agency.
“I could have lost my life for the sake of some pictures that Gisele didn’t want published. I couldn’t believe it when I realized what they had done,” Cortez said.
According to two spokesmen for the photo agency, the photographers were hiding in the brush near Gisele’s estate taking pictures when they were rousted by the newlyweds’ security guards.
The photographers, identified as Cortez and Rolando Aviles, were marched up to Bundchen’s villa, where they were ordered to surrender their photos and video because Bundchen had a deal with a Brazilian magazine for exclusive rights to the wedding photos.
The men refused to turn over their film, and fled with the security guards in hot pursuit.
The photographers ran to a waiting SUV and jumped in as a guard fired a shot at them, the photo agency said. The bullet shattered the Suzuki’s rear window, passed between the two men in the front seat and bounced off the windshield.
My theory on celebs and paparazzi always has been, you asked for it, you got it. If you don’t like the attention, stop demanding it and give the money back. That may be a more debatable point with Tom and Gisele than with, say, Madonna, Sean Penn, George Clooney or Paris Hilton. But that balance might have just tipped.
Speaking of saving newspapers, one troubled Boston rag might have been better served by not burying this important story in favor of front-page display treatment for 300-year-old dead people and a wire rewrite.

Who cares about gunfire at Tom and Giselles, as long as he doesn’t get hit, what is important is that at 2:10 today Beckett will take the mound in the first pitch of this world series winning year.

Yes indeed. The Paparazzi get what they deserve. If some get killed, I consider it occupational hazards. I don’t consider them real media people anyway.
And we need TFB to be healthy in August when play resumes on our next superbowl winning season. :)
