Ossassination Plot Foiled

Jerusalem Post, citing Saudi daily al-Watan: Turkey foils plot to assassinate Obama.

Turkish security services have arrested a man of Syrian descent who was planning to assassinate US President Barack Obama during his current trip to Turkey, the Saudi daily Al Watan reported Monday.

According to the report, the man, who was arrested on Friday, was carrying a press card identifying him as an employee of Al Jazeera. He reportedly confessed to his intention to stab Obama with a knife and said that he was aided by three accomplices.

The report stated that Turkish authorities were still unsure as to whether the press card was a fake or whether it had actually been issued the man by the Qatari news network.

So much for liking us better. The guy must have missed Obama’s speech ripping off George Bush’s line about the war not being on Muslims. Now Syria, which has a history of political assassinations, is palsy with Iran. Might be something to bring up at the next sitdown with the mullahs.

Instapundit yesterday with other, more civil expressions of non-liking us better.

Anyway, O now joins the club of modern presidencies, every one of which has been plagued by assassination plots, serious and otherwise. In addition to being glad that the president of the united States remains alive and well overseas, I am also glad we haven’t heard of anything more serious from domestic hatemongers.*

* Remember this plot, by two backwoods androgynazis?  Never quite got the lipstick and the white tophats and tails. A little weird.

Guess that explains his nervous tic at the sound of a gunshot in Turkey. You could almost read his thoughts: “But… but… I thought everybody lovedme!”
