Smoke ‘Em If You Got ‘Em

The assault on free speech from western governments. Jonathan Turley at Washington Post lays out the familiar story of European governments prosecuting speech, with policies and laws designed to to avoid hurting the feelings of people who want to subvert freedoms Europeans struggled for centuries to achieve. Europe more or less deserves what it is getting. Turley calls the United States the last bastion of freedom. Though given the denunciations of racism and other thought crimes on anyone who tries to discuss legitimate issues around here, and the interest in restoring the Fairness Doctrine, you gotta wonder how long before America’s most fundamental freedom, the freedom to speak one’s mind, goes up in smoke.
