100 Days!

Joyous event of the 100 days of the Obama Idea happily celebrated by cheering workers of the liberated United States Peoples Democratic Republic with inspiring song and deep reflection of gratitude!

Dunno why, this just feels like it wants to be recorded in Kimspeak. (Speaking of which you’ll be glad to know that Kim’s latest food initiative, a magnanimous insistence that NK elites should be able to enjoy pizza and alfredo at “Italian Food Restaurant” while the rest of the nation starves, is going well.) Sorry, distracted. Insufficiently enthused by the stirring 100 Daysitude of the event. Off to Re-Ed Camp I go, but first:

CNN: 100 Days, the 10 Greenest Acts!

Uh oh, fly in the ointment. Philly Bulletin: Dawn of new politics marred by partisanship.

WPost, oddly, briefly, chirpily … it doesn’t really mean anything, just a number.

The 100-day mark is the first major milestone in a presidency, but it doesn’t relate to anything official. Mostly it’s a chance for the media to take an early look at how a new president is doing.

Even the experts say 100 days don’t mean much. It’s kind of like the beginning of school: You might like your new math teacher (or not!) after just one month, but you won’t know what you’ve learned until the year is over.

Yeah, that, and the president has demanded prime time mid-sweeps week.

Radio Free Europe, With 1st 100, Obama seeks “New Basis for Relationships” Abroad:

Throughout his first 100 days, many observers say, Obama’s tone toward the rest of the world has been one of humility and engagement, such as when he told the Muslim world that America is not its enemy, and that the United States “is not at war with Islam.”

Sure, “humility and engagement,” that’s one way of putting it. “Not at war with Islam” was Bush’s line, BTW. (Neptunus Lex notes some lefty disapproval for Obamian “fecklessness” overseas and wonders that The One may be a uniter after all!)

AP with some raw numbers. Not pretty. Come on, people, think positive!

Here we go. Obama gets high marks! MSNBC:

More than six in 10 approve of Obama’s job, nearly two-thirds view him favorably, and a majority believe he has gotten off to a solid start during his first three months on the job.

Perhaps most significantly, Americans so far find him to be likeable. More than 80 percent in the poll say they personally like Obama, even if they don’t agree with all of his policies. And respondents give him high scores on his personality, demeanor and leadership qualities.

Sounds like six in 10 Americans have been living in a different America than I have for the last 100 days and were raised differently if they like that for personality, demeanor and leadership. Macsmind cocks an eye at the polling. Here’s an LA Times online poll that also finds a lot not to like. C’mon people, let’s turn those frowns around! Here’s Daily Kos polling itself.

I’m confident the great Don Surber, my gaptoothed hillbilly pal from West by God Virginia has his updated gaffeology up, 100 Days, 100 Mistakes. Accept no imitations.

OK, accept this imitation. NY Post: 100 Days, 100 Mistakes. Because plagiarism is the sincerest form of ripping off. Though technically speaking, titles are fair game.

Reynolds celebrates the day obliquely: Downturn worse than expected, and More evidence the ’70s are back!

Malkin, not messing around, 100 Days of the Poser Presidency.

Powerline, channeling Ledeen, on Obama’s vow of “Never Again.” He means us.

TOTUS: 1360 more!?!

Snapshot of life in the Age of Obama: Napolitano seeks to avoid using verboten Schwein flu terminology for this non-man-caused disaster. It POs the pork industry. The Israelis don’t like it. But you can’t call it Mexican flu. Sounds like we need some Protein Wisdom

There’s always Hope … and Change! Ace at the 100 Day mark notes that Obama is at odds with the notorious 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in its latest “seriously retarded ruling” and siding with Bush on intel.

Cold Warrior at Hot Air … while Obama slept.

(Speaking of which, Jenn Rubin at Commentary cocks an eye at the GWOT’s latest new fan again. It’s the left’s favorite tough guy, Friedman, back on board with winning in Iraq, chalking up a Bush win post-9/11.)

Getting Riehl, with the unkind observation that the bigger the government, the bigger the screwup.

Goldberg at The Corner draws lefty ire when the dares to speak of these days of “hubris” and “arrogance.”

O, the hurtfulness! Steyn at The Corner uses the words of His Annointedness against Him:

“We cannot pretend somehow that because Barack Hussein Obama got elected as president, suddenly everything is going to be okay.”

Well, he did pretty much campaign on it.

National Review, being deeply, deeply hurtful about it: “Year Zero.”

It is no accident that “hitting the reset button” has become one of the regnant clichés of the early weeks of the Obama administration. The president has spent the last 100 days acting as though he has the power to make the world anew: to turn enemies into allies by the power of his personal charm and his self-presentation as a break with the sordid past; to re-create the automotive industry, the energy sector, and the economy in general along lines he considers more fruitful and pleasing; to ignore any vestiges of conservatism still present in the populace; to dismiss any criticism as the grunting of dinosaurs. It is Year Zero of a pallid revolution.

And that may be the unkindest cut of all. There was nothing pallid about the last Year Zero.

Post still under construction. Your joyous expressions and fond remembrances of what Dear Leader has accomplished in 100 days since his ascendance to heights of leadership from humble origins on Golden Mountain amid bird chirping and the arrival of the Obama Idea to the liberation of oppressed workers welcomed in comments!

    Only 1361 to go.

  2. Fatty Bolger Says:

100 days, and he’s already taken over GM (and plans to give almost half of the company to the unions!!), and has the banks on their knees begging to be allowed to pay back the money they owe, like pathetic loanshark victims. What’s next, besides the attempt to take over the health care industry that we all know is coming? I think he would really like to prop up failing liberal dailies, for obvious political reasons, but is even Obama audacious enough to try that? 100 days ago I would have said probably not, but now I’m not so sure.

  3. RebeccaH Says:

We think we’ve seen corruption and power-grabbing so far? Ha! Just wait until the “green” and “healthcare” legislations get passed.

  4. AW1 Tim Says:

    Yes,

If you think that healthcare is expensive now, just wait till you see what it costs when it’s free! :)

  5. Michael Lonie Says:

I expect we’ll see a ten month waiting list for maternity beds in hospitals. Canada flirts with that with its single payer National Health Care scheme.

This administration has certainly hit the ground stumbling.
