Turncoat Pariahed

Specter denied seniority, given junior rank on the Dem side of committees. Hey, I thought he had Harry Reid’s word on that! Turns out he’ll get it … if he behaves through 2010. It’s evil and diabolical. I like it. Fitting punishment for someone who bailed on the party he rode in on, squawking about far right lockstep demands. Chain him to the other wall!

Oh yeah, he’s also had to apologize for making Jew jokes. Rough week. Washington Post.

Riehl: Weak, or a fool? Howzabout both! Fitting end for a pol who switched twice.

Ace: The guy’s having trouble remembering which party he belongs to. It’s easy, Arlen. The Dems are the party that’s treating you worse than the Repubs ever did. It isn’t easy being a turncoat.

Hot Air: That sunny day has a silver lining. Reid gets to be a weak fool in this scenario, too. Snowe and Collins theoretically must be rethinking. I dunno, that presumes an absence of wide-eyed naivete.

Wizbang: Rousing Dem welcome to the guy who no longer felt welcome!

Legal Insurrection: Come back, Arlen! … you know, that’s a nice sentiment, but I say let them have him.  I like the Democratic majority better already. I like him better this way, too. Anyway, he might be just the extra bit of rope they need, especially now that he’s on a leash. I’m with Surber, this will all bite them in the behind before too long.

Different, but entirely related, Gateway: Deadbeat Geithner to crack down on tax cheats. And here’s a good one, via Hyscience: Liberal states ranked least free. Tell me about it.

Echoes in a different branch of government. Powerline re Ginsburg on her demand for another woman so someone will listen to her when the august justices confer: “Isn’t there something in the Constitution that says a Supreme Court justice can’t be a pathetic whiner?” Actually, no. It’s part of the beauty of the American system of government that even pathetic whiners can rise to the highest offices. We’ve got a glut of them at the top at present, but it is a self-correcting system as the American people, while big-hearted and charitably given to pity, eventually find the whiners too pathetic.

Entirely unrelated, just fun, Protein Wisdom: Regular guy Obama puts Dijon on his Hell burger on Cinco de Cinco … French mustard on the day that marks the Mexican defeat of the French. (Which is something we should probably celebrate for laughs rather than just as an excuse to drink weak beer with a lime in it in the middle of the week. Hey, make mine a California burger with French’s Mustard.)
