Tut Tut

ABC’s Tapper with the squawking about Wanda Sykes’s Limbaugh bashing, that prompted guffaws from Obama at the Washington press dinner. Rush hopes Obama’s policies fail, Sykes hopes Rush’s kidneys fail. Rush should be waterboarded, etc. Yeah, OK, ho hum, some lefty Rush-bashing. Who cares? Never mind that you could spend all day getting indignant about what comedians and talk show hosts and presidents at Washington press dinners say. Partisan comedian tosses out crowd-pleasing cheap shots to a slavishly partisan press and their lordly darling, whose claims of “new politics” and bi-partisanship are a bad joke even he dropped a long time ago. So where’s the news? Nothing to see here, move along.

Deadline Hollywood: gentle jibes only, please.

UK Telegraph’s Toby Harnden was there and laughed along until ”it took a very ugly turn.” Unseemly of POTUS to laugh at jokes wishing a political critic dead. Come on, Toby, what do you think, you were welcome there? Conservative Brit? You’re lucky you haven’t had your head put in a cardboard box and sent back to the British embassy.

HotAir: Bad jokes are very very bad, except when they are politically correct. Yeah, there is the raging hypocrisy thing. Excuse me if I’ve gotten jaded about that. HotAir channels Treacher twitting:

Nothing better than smug lefties saying I have no sense of humor over a joke they’d be SCREECHING about if it targeted one of their own.

I dunno. Kind of sounds like the kickoff point for a comic shtick. Iowahawk?

Malkin: Most self-absorbed night in Washington since the inaugural. I dunno … there’ve been a lot of them.

Neptunus Lex: “Group grope.”

Here’s a good one. Jonah Goldberg at The Corner, after being flooded with hate mail, “Apparently any dissent from another celebration of Obama is beyond the pale.” It’s a shocker.

Not in a joking mood, Doug Ross would like to see an analysis of which party’s policiies promote racism. Good luck with that.

Gateway with some of POTUS’ own tasteless yuks. The funniest one is the remark about “re-engaging with our allies.” Ha ha, remember how much they loved him right before they all had to wash their hair or something on Afghan prom night?

Meanwhile, HuffPo, tickled by the black lesbian Rush-waterboarding kidney failure of it all: Wanda Sykes kills!

Whiskey Fire: It’s funny because it’s true! … OK, I’ll bear that in mind. Good rationalization to file away for future reference.

Balloon Juice, apparently sensitive to the right’s criticism: Hey, you think that’s bad, wait till you hear what Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew said at the Gridiron Club. Stop the presses, Agnew used an ethnically insensitive accent … 40 years ago! Where’s the outrage? GOP hypocrites!

Welcome Instapundit, etal. Always so good to see you. Come on in. Remember Teflon Don? He was the best American combat writer on the ground in Iraq in his time, and here’s a clue why. Re Obama, here’s a little class warfare. Also, some lordliness in a humility-inducing corner of a foreign field that is forever American. And be sure to drop by Crittenden’s Boutique Right-Wing Warmonger Bookshop while you’re here.

My only sister died of kidney and liver failure due to a chronic disease. I won’t say what I hope for Wanda Sykes.

This is just more of the nastiness I’ve come to expect from our President and his cronies. If America’s eyes and ears aren’t opening up now, then we deserve whatever we get.

[...] Jules Crittenden has compiled a collection of reactions to Sykes’ act, both from the right and the left. Sorry, Jules… I can’t be as casual about this as you. I have a big problem with the nastiness she spewed at those not in attendance, like Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh (of course, there were the expected cheap shots at G.W. Bush and Dick Cheney, but they were innocuous at best). None of her nastiness was leveled against liberals. The worst thing she said about Obama, after she stopped genuflecting, was something strange and uncomfortable about his nipples. [...]
