Sleepless In Dreamland
Obama is losing sleep over the record deficit he is running up. Reuters:
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama said on Tuesday that worrying about the U.S. government’s finances “keeps me awake at night” and the country needed to start planning now to tackle soaring deficits.
In a pair of interviews on CNBC and Bloomberg television, Obama defended increasing government spending to prevent the recession from worsening, and warned the unemployment rate may hit 10 percent this year, a level not seen since 1983.
“There’s no doubt that we’ve got a serious problem in terms of our long-term deficits and debt,” he told CNBC. “I make no apologies for having acted short term to deal with our recession.”
But he said once the recession ends, “we’re going to have to close that gap between the amount of money coming in and the amount of money going out.”
I’d still like to know how shoveling money to preserve government jobs and absurd pork spending is supposed to turn the economy around, and I’m still wondering why some targeted jobs-producing tax breaks weren’t included … on home renovation projects, for example, to encourage people who have money to hire tradesmen who don’t, for example, and other incentives for regular, working Americans to hire regular, working Americans.
But apart from all of that, as much as I hate the idea of the leader of the free world being short on sleep, it’s hard to work up a lot of sympathy for a guy who can’t sleep with his own decisions, and is still trying to figure out ways to drive the deficit even higher … no matter how often he says his universal health plan is going to cut costs. In fact, the news that he can’t sleep and can’t stop is more than a little disturbing.

I’m thinking it’s more the jet lag from flying about for exotic dates and speech giving, instead of staying at his desk leading us through this crisis…but who am I to keep the President from golf, 5 Guys and adoring (foreign) throngs?
Like most other speeches and comments he makes, it seems what he says and what he does is 180 out…I’m betting he losses no sleep over this….maybe over not getting his SCOTUS pick rushed right to the bench.

Losing sleep over it? Get real - this man is a straight-up sociopathic liar. If he was even slightly concerned, he’d cancel the absurd failure enacted in the name of economic stimulus but more accurately described as a grab-bag of longstanding liberal pet projects and political pay-offs.
It’s the biggest waste of money ever conceived. This idiot will bankrupt us - we have the ideological and intellectual equivalent of Keith Olbermann running the show.

If Mr. Obama is losing sleep, it’s probably because he’s afraid the American people are going to wake up and figure out what he’s up to before he can ram it all down our throats.
