Let’s Make A Songun Deal

UPDATE: Bill gets results. CNN, breaking, they’re pardoned andheading home.*

Bill’s in Pyongyang to plead for the release of his former veep’s journalists. NYT.

Nothing up on the Central Korean News Agency site yet. They must be still trying to figure out which way to play this. Good humiliation opportunities: “Yes, you can have your spies, but first, a tour of the USS Pueblo … Here, the disgraced former aggressor president contritely views evidence of war crimes in Pyongyang’s Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum … Aging figurehead of decrepit capitalist world domination enjoys day trip to the American Imperial Massacre Remembrance Museum in Sinchon, with a picnic lunch of Kimburgers and Italian Food catered by the exciting new culinary experiences of Juche nightlife.”

It would be fun to make him watch some Marilyn Monroe flicks with Dear Geezer, too, lots of good American presidential immorality irony there, maybe with the “Happy Birthday Mr President” footage as a short before the main feature, only Beloved Bouffant’s been a little sickly lately and might not up to a movie marathon. Too bad, because Glorious Safari Suit’s so … ronery. One thing Bill, just because you’re out of the country, someplace where no one knows you, don’t, whatever you do …

At last check, the latest US news on the DPRK site hasn’t seized the moment yet. The U.S. wild ambition to dominate the whole of Korea can never come true

Pyongyang, June 11 (KCNA) — The U.S. wild ambition to dominate the whole of Korea can never come true, says Minju Joson Thursday in a signed commentary carried six decades since it announced its decision to keep a “military advisory group” in south Korea.

The commentary cites facts to prove that it was a product of the U.S. hostile policy toward the DPRK and a field mechanism for implementing its policy of a war for aggression against the DPRK.

The U.S. scenario to keep the whole of Korea under its occupation and dominate it remains unchanged, the commentary notes, and goes on:

Due to the above-said policy the situation in the Korean Peninsula is getting tenser as the days go by and the danger of a nuclear war further increasing there. All Koreans should, therefore, intensify the struggle against the U.S. and war and for the defence of peace.

However, traitor Lee Myung Bak is earnestly begging for the permanent U.S. presence in south Korea, while rushing headlong into sycophancy toward the U.S. and the confrontation with fellow countrymen in contravention of the will of the nation.

It is due to such traitor to the nation that the U.S. is frantically stepping up the moves for a war of aggression against fellow countrymen while keeping its forces in south Korea for over six decades despite the Koreans’ unanimous denunciation.

The Koreans can never escape misfortune as long as the aggressors and traitors are allowed to ride roughshod.

The U.S. would be well advised to roll back its anachronistic and criminal hostile policy towards the DPRK and pull its forces out of south Korea.

The Lee group had better behave itself, mindful that sycophancy toward the U.S. and confrontation with fellow countrymen are bound to lead to self-destruction.

You see what Bill’s dealing with here. The United States, as reported at the NYT link above, is eager to avoid linkage between the release of the captured journos and any of the other myriad issues. Good luck with that. And Bill’s track record in negotiations with the Norks … not so good. Last time, they got the aid and the nukes. However, it may be that giving them Bill to play with for a while will satisfy them. Hope so. As ill-advised as skulking around the North Korean border is, the Gore news agency in sending Laura Ling and Euna Lee into harm’s way was at least trying to address a real menace to the planet.

SkyNews has Bill sitting down with Dear Starlet Enthusiast. You know, this is the guy they should be sending boxes of DVDs and iPods to.

WPost’s “44″ blog sees an evolving role for Bill, once a menace to Planet Obama. Bolton, also at WPost, thinks it’s unwise.

Toronto Sun last week, handicapping Hill’s spat with Kim.

Fun Kim photo essay at UK Telegraph.

* Now that Bill’s apparently sprung them, a couple of questions. Did he have naked pictures of Dear Leader? Was an ex-president’s bow and scrape all it took? Is it possible the Norks didn’t fully capitalize on this situation. No humiliation parade? That remains to be seen, whether there’s some linkage no one is going to want to talk about, or whether Bill just had a lot of unreleased DVDs in his carry-on bags. ”Up,” “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” that kind of thing. Great news for the journos and their families, anyway. Two down, 24 million to go.

Big Memeorandum roundup.
