Protest As We Say …
Not as we do. SF Chron’s Debra Saunders wraps up, puts a bow on the raging hypocrisy of Dem objections to dissent. I’d just add that it’s too bad George Bush, accused of trampling on the Constitution, will never get the credit he deserves for politely tolerating dissent.

I’m all for tea party protests and the dissent at town hall meetings, and all the rest of it (and frankly, I’m enjoying the heck out of the stunned looks on the congresscritters’ faces). But we have to be careful not to sink to the level of left in their past and current actions, or we risk the credibility of the movement.
I’ve seen some posters of Obama with a Hitler moustache, and posters with hammer and sickle (no swastikas, though). Obama is not a Stalinist, nor a Hitler, and to suggest otherwise is to miss the real point, and to diminish the true evil associated with those monsters. Yes, he’s trying to push permanent Dem/Euro socialism on us, but considering the man’s upbringing and education, it’s pretty obvious he just doesn’t know any better. The American people elected him, so we must own him. It’s up to us to teach him.
I also don’t agree with shouting down congresscritters who are trying to speak. That said, no crowd should fail to show its displeasure with the Dem talking points and outright falsehoods. I believe in giving them enough rope, etc. They should be our targets in 2010. If Obama is personally popular enough to win a second term, let him stay, so long as his agenda is hamstrung.

Be polite, but not subservient. They work for YOU, not ‘tother way round…
