Meaningful Debate
Obama gets the one he’s been looking for in New Hampshire. Whitehouse.gov:
THE PRESIDENT: Hello, Portsmouth! Thank you. (Applause.) Thank you so much. Everybody have a seat. Oh, thank you so –
AUDIENCE MEMBER: We love you!
THE PRESIDENT: I love you back. Thank you. (Laughter.) It is great to be back in Portsmouth. (Applause.) It’s great to be back in New Hampshire … blah blah blah health care. Blah blah blah you and your doctor. Blah blah blah wild misrepresentations boogeymen special interests scare tactics. Blah blah blah change is hard.
AUDIENCE: Yes we can! Yes we can! Yes we can!
THE PRESIDENT: Thank you. I remember that.
Q Thank you, Mr. President. Government healthcare is great! Now, bipartisanship is wonderful, but if the Republicans refuse to agree with your excessive reasonableness, isn’t it time we dispense with reason? (Applause.)
THE PRESIDENT: There are, let’s see, maybe three reasonable Republicans. As for the rest, if they refuse to see reason, then I don’t see any reason to continue pretending to be reasonable.
All right. Let’s — this young lady right here. All right, this young lady right here.
Q I saw — as I was walking in, I saw a lot of signs outside saying mean things about reforming health care. Why do mean people say mean things, Mr. President?
OK, that may not be exactly how it went, but it’s a reasonable facsimile.
Surber calls it a gated community meeting. Malkin calls in Kabuki. I dunno, Kabuki requires talent and experience. HotAir cruelly notes Obama is seeking to replicate the Post Office. Gateway’s got a hurtful exchange from a McCaskill town hall meeting that could have used a gate:
“Don’t you trust me?”
“No!”
Meanwhile, Allahpundit nails it regarding the 2nd Amendment advocate who decided to wear a gun at a presidential event. If the whole thing was political Kabuki, the guy with the gun was playing Su-dolt-ku. The Chris Matthews interview, as Matthews closely examines the belief system of said dolt, is pretty much a dolt-on-dolt prizefight.

Somehow, I’m suddenly thinking of Farouk, Achmed, and Abdul, playing the parts of Obama, Rahm, and Gibbs.
