Scary Dangerous Health-Care Protest
Turns out the lefties and the media were right about the danger of bloodshed at increasingly heated health-care protests. This kind of shifts the irrational health-care rage thing solidly into the other camp, though. Pro-socialized medicine MoveOn protestor confronts, yells at, menaces an elderly anti-Obamacare protestor, then bites the old guy’s finger off in the ensuing fight. KTLA.
Ha. Washington Post’s E.J. Dionne chimes in sagely. Sort of:
Health-care reform is said to be in trouble partly because of those raucous August town-hall meetings in which Democratic members of Congress were besieged by shouters opposed to change.
But what if our media-created impression of the meetings is wrong? What if the highly publicized screamers represented only a fraction of public opinion? What if most of the town halls were populated by citizens who respectfully but firmly expressed a mixture of support, concern and doubt?
There is an overwhelming case that the electronic media went out of their way to cover the noise and ignored the calmer (and from television’s point of view “boring”) encounters between elected representatives and their constituents.
Well, he had it right in a broken clock kind of way, that is, until he started trying to say what was wrong. Actually, there’s overwhelming case the media, print and electronic, has gone out of its way to demonize conservative dissent, after applauding lunacy and assorted outrages on the left for decades. Dionne weirdly ends with this:
… the only citizens who commanded widespread media coverage last month were the right-wingers. And I bet you thought the media were “liberal.”
Not true. All kinds of bused-in union stiffs and Obama campaigners have gotten plenty of ink. They were presented as earnest, independent-minded, caring citizens who were aghast at all the scary, dangerous protest and were able to get away with calling it unAmerican.

The more they demonize the American public for having doubts about Obamacare and the rest of it, the angrier they make the American public. Evidently all those libDem geniuses never thought of that.
