Too bad. Could have been a great bi-partisan civility reach-across uniter-not-a-divider kind of move in these uncivil times.
Allah at HotAir was willing to back Obama on this one. Have to say, ABC’s excuse about employees who “prematurely tweeted a portion of those remarks that turned out to be from an off-the-record portion of the interview” has a bit of the dog-ate-our-homework about it.
Piece of Work in Progress has some “who you calling jackass” fun with it, doesn’t expect Ogreement is going to be an ongoing problem.
Not too late for O to grow a set, come out and firmly, presidentially, declare, “I meant it. For the record. Kanye West is a jackass.” It would be like a reverse Sgt. Crowley “acting stupidly” situation … where O doesn’t have to backtrack, and all of America applauds him. Special bonus, we get to move past that Joe Wilson thing.
Speaking of which, in other inappropriate public utterance developments, Kinsley at WaPo calls B.S. on Dem umbrage vs Wilson. It’s not so much the faux indignation, though Kinsley to his credit looks askance at that. It’s how much fun and money Wilson is getting out of it. Demands for yet another apology only extend the ride. Given Wilson’s $750,000 48-hour take, it raises the question of whether indecorous expressions of rage will replace the phone bank. Delete your dumb email list. That’s so 2008. Just think of something outrageous, find a venue and shout it!

I don’t understand the problem here. Kanye West is a jackass (my own opinion, of course, formed quite some time ago).
