Racism, Hate Speech Up

Jimmy Carter and I agree! Hang on a sec. No, we don’t. Jimmy isn’t talking about himself and his views about Israel. He isn’t talking about Skip Gates, either. No, it’s not about Janeane Garofalo and Maureen Dowd, and all the efforts to disparage people who are upset about the concerted effort to drive up deficits and taxes and fundamentally reorder our economy while massively expanding government in the middle of a recession. In fact, he’s piling on and adding the imprimatur of high office. MSNBC offers up the excerpt:

“I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man,” Carter said. “I live in the South, and I’ve seen the South come a long way, and I’ve seen the rest of the country that share the South’s attitude toward minority groups at that time, particularly African Americans.”

Carter continued, “And that racism inclination still exists. And I think it’s bubbled up to the surface because of the belief among many white people, not just in the South but around the country, that African-Americans are not qualified to lead this great country. It’s an abominable circumstance, and it grieves me and concerns me very deeply.”

What the former president of the United States is saying is, if you disagree with the current president, and you think he doesn’t know what he’s doing … or on the other hand if you think he does know exactly what he’s doing, he just isn’t very good at it … you’re a racist.

And I thought it was his policies and political ineptitude they couldn’t stand. I dunno. Impugning a vast swath of Americans, based on the color of some of their skins and absent any other evidence, doesn’t just sound racist. It sounds kind of dumb.

So does this. FOX: Rep. Hank Johnson, D-Ga., says the House rebuke of Wilson is necessary to quell a Klan resurgence.

“He did not help the cause of diversity and tolerance with his remarks — if I were a betting man I would say it instigated more racist sentiment,” Johnson said Tuesday. “And so I guess we’ll probably have folks putting on white hoods and white uniforms again and riding through the countryside intimidating people. … That’s the logical conclusion if this kind of attitude is not rebuked, and Congressman Wilson represents it. He’s the face of it.”

It’s sad, but it turns out the race-baiting lefty pundits were right. A black man can’t be president in this country without all kinds of ugly racism rearing its head … among race-baiting lefties.

Jebus H. Our political class have revealed themselves as still living in the 19th century. All the more reason to get rid of all of them and elect people who are actually living in this century/millenium.

It’s enough to make one question the existence of a benevolent God. We’re burying Patrick Swayze while Goober Jimmy is still around to make an ass of himself.
