Surrenderists Gird For Defeat
Biden: GOP wins would be “End of the Road.” The Hill:
Vice President Joe Biden on Monday said if Republicans succeed in winning back the House in 2010, it would be the “end of the road” for the White House’s agenda.
At a fundraiser for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), Biden said the prospects for change rest with about 35 Democrats who sit in districts Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) won in the 2008 election. It is those seats, Biden said, that are the GOP’s leading targets.
“They’re going to put their chips on movement in the 35 seats in the House that have been traditionally Republican districts and trying to take them back,” Biden said, according to a pool report of the event.
“If they take [those seats] back, this is the end of the road for what Barack and I are trying to do,” Biden said, , referring to President Obama. “This is their one shot. If they don’t break the back of our effort in this upcoming election, you’re going to see the things we said we’re for, happen.”
OK, forget that last bit for a minute … there’s no indication they can make anything happen even with House and Senate majorities, and they’ve done everything they can to avoid actually saying what they are for, anyway.
It’s the naked surrenderism that is truly astonishing. It’s not just that are they ready to give up if the GOP wins back some seats. Did they learn nothing from George Bush? He got what he wanted even when they took Congress. He’s still having key parts of it his way even after the opposition took the White House … on a ticket that called for doing anything but what Bush did. Now Biden, his boss and the Congressional leadership are looking for a politically viable way to lose a war Bush showed them how to win. While apparently, if that “End of the Road 2010″ statement represents their reality, in no particularly big rush to advance their agenda and not particularly hopeful about it.
Help me out here. Why’d they even run in the first place?
Good slogan, though. “End of the Road, 2010!” Catchy.
HotAir eggs them on: Gallup shows America increasingly doesn’t like you, Joe and O. And adds hurtfully, “Thanks for the campaign slogan, sucka!”
Gateway cruelly notes a hope deficit.

“Why’d they even run in the first place?”
Let me count the reasons: (1) narcissism; (2) narcissism; (3) health-care and other White House benefits are really good; (4) pay isn’t bad; (5) it’s fun being a total f*ck-up on the world stage; (6) it feels good to have the elitist media stroke you all day; (7) did I mention “narcissism”?

LOL
I think TheBigHenry has identified something there.
The other thing to note is that the VP has been known on occasion to overstate a thing or two. This may be his attempt to avoid wasting a crisis.
Or it could just be another bloviation.

Good God, I hope so!

It’s just the truth. This 2-year window is their first opportunity in many years, and will be the last unless the Dems keep congress. Biden is trying to wake up the Dem base and get them stirred up to vote at the mid-terms. Their base, particularly the young, is less likely to vote.
Unless a GOP administration, hopefully in 2012, wakes up and cleans out all the liberals in agencies and bureaus, they can still keep creeping along, however. The entire gov. is infiltrated with libs, lib regulations, etc.

The Dem’s are poised to repeat the Republican blunders…but they’re doing it in record time. It took the Repub’s 6 years to blow a majority by spending their way into huge deficits, the Dem’s are doing it inside a year.
While I don’t think the Repub’s will gain a majority in Congress next year, they will vastly reduce the Dem’s present majority. My prediction is that Repub’s will gain 35-40 seats in the house and 3-4 in the Senate.
Unfortunately, I din’t think that the Republican Party is particularly worthy of that many seats, as the presentt leadership is the reason why we lost our majority of the House/Senate in the first place. They want to spend just as much as the Dem’s do, and basically have been ignoring the “base in the hinterlands” for most of the past decade.
