“Dumb”

Washington Post’s Ruth Marcus gets points for noticing:

… It makes the White House look weak, unable to take Harry Truman’s advice and just deal with the heat. It makes the White House look small, dragged down to the level of Glenn Beck. It makes the White House look childish and petty at best, and it has a distinct Nixonian — Agnewesque? — aroma at worst.

Yeah, the Clintons were smart enough to leave it general, “vast right-wing conspiracy.” How come none of these people can manage a little class, roll with the punches like George Bush?

Too bad they don’t show the kind of animosity to actual enemies of the United States that they show to American citizens. If he took the same Kumabayah “Why Do They Hate Us?” rollover approach to half the U.S. electorate that he takes with assorted foreign despots, maybe we’d all just get along …

But as Marcus notes, the O admin’s bitterly divisive partisan anti-free speech campaign has been great for Rush Limbaugh, and now it’s great for Glenn Beck. And the foreign despots he does suck up to all still mock him, anyway.

Surber’s keeping a running tally of mainstream scribblers advising Obama to stop being dumb.

Allah: The psychology of Rush listeners, according to CNN

In other O admin dumbness noticed, Gateway: China scholar shocked at ObaMao-ism. Gateway also has the latest on the non-socialist’s love of the free world: O won’t go to Berlin for the 20th anniversary of the fall of you-know-what.

Good place to thrown in Breitbart.tv with Obama manufacturing czar Ron Bloom: “We generally get the joke. The free market is nonsense … We kinda agree with Mao that political power comes largely from the barrel of a gun.”

Well, they’re falling down on that score in Afghanistan. Hang on, Gates gets it. USA Today:

ABOARD A U.S. MILITARY JET (AP) — The Obama administration needs to decide on a war strategy for Afghanistan without waiting for a government there to be widely accepted as legitimate, U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Monday.

Gates’ comments put him at odds with top White House and NATO officials who are balking at ordering more troops and other resources to Afghanistan until the disputed election crisis there is resolved.

The Pentagon chief called the Afghan elections — and the larger issues of curbing corruption in its government — “an evolving process.”

“We’re not just going to sit on our hands, waiting for the outcome of this election and for the emergence of a government in Kabul,” he told reporters en route to Tokyo.

That part of the O admin doesn’t sound as dumb as the other part.
