It’s about that partisan civility thing. Turns out, if you yell “You Lie!” and say things like “Kiss my gay ass!” there can be consequences. Not just consequences, but cleverly embedded snark! It’s Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s two-fer response to California Assemblyman Tom Ammiano’s request for help and his rude outburst. San Francisco Bay Guardian’s Tim Redmond: “Arnold to SF: Fuck You.”
It was hardly a bill of cosmic import, but Assemblymember Tom Ammiano’s AB 1176 would have helped the Port of San Francisco with some financing issues. It’s the kind of bill that legislators offer on behalf of their cities all the time — and generally, they are non-controversial. This one was the same — no substantive opposition, it passed both houses easily — and normally, the governor would sign it with little fanfare.
But no: Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed the bill — and sent Ammiano and the legislators a remarkable veto letter. The letter says nothing about the substance of the bill; in fact, the language is really convoluted and it’s hard to figure out what the gov is really saying.

But wait — there’s a real message, an actual missive from the Gov to Tom, embedded in this text. And it’s not hard to find — in fact, it’s hard to believe it could have been a coincidence.

Well, maybe Arnold is still mad at being told to “kiss my gay ass”, but this is a rather puerile way for the governor of California to be spending his time.
Wow. Masterful. That’s what I’d call a textbook case of your actions coming back to bite you in the (gay) ass. Remains to be seen who ends up kissing who’s ass in this one. SF Chron reports the Governator’s flack is calling it a “weird coincidence.” Background from Redmond, who recorded Ammiano’s own puerile political speech here with a big you go, guy for “reminding everyone what San Francisco stands for.” I dunno if Ammiano’s outbursts are what San Francisco stands for, but “F-u-c-k Y-o-u” is pretty much what you can expect when you start shouting at chief executives. Just ask Joe Wilson.*

* Wilson, of course, only shouted “You lie!” at Obama and did not invite him to “Kiss my Southern cracker ass,” or whatever the appropriate equivalent would be. He was officially voted a “Fuck You” by the House of representatives and I’m willing to bet will have a hard time getting anything out of any committee while the Democrats hold the reins. However, USA Today reports it’$ been working out for him.

I’m not the biggest Ahnuld fan but I find it hard to believe that a non-native english speaker like him could come up with this. My guess is someone on his staff either wants to get him in trouble or really hates his job.
If Ahnuld did this he really should frankly resign. This is beyond petty.

I’ve always wondered about Schwarzenegger’s personal beliefs. He’s European born and bred, married to a Kennedy (well, a Shriver, same thing), and has hobnobbed with the intelligentsia ever since he went into politics. But he came to America with nothing and raised himself up to those dizzying heights with sheer bravado and hard work. You’d think he’d embrace the hard-nosed, capitalist, conservative side of things.
For the record, Larry David is scum, and I will continue to not watch his stupid show.
