Four Utah teens are in the fry-o-lator, cited for disorderly conduct for rapping their order at a Mickey D’s window, imitating a YouTube video: “I need a double cheeseburger and hold [...]

While the Boston Globe waxes hysterical about the dangers letting veterans be cops, the New York Times weighs in with some news on what the presumed babykillers have been up to while earning their veterans’ civil service preference. It’s an informative article on the military’s adaption to Taliban tactics and finetuning of the counterinsurgency. Sounds like the Army expects a pretty high degree of sophistication [...]

No, not race, gender or sexual-orientation preferences. Don’t be ridiculous. It’s the Boston Globe, slamming civil service police preferences for that other much-abused minority, Military-Americans, in a bigoted, ill-informed editorial that plays on some of the worst stereotypes about veterans, and has the Boston police commissioner singing in tune:

Lifson at The American Thinker sums up this picture’s thousand words:
Sergeant Crowley, the sole class act in this trio, helps the handicapped Professor Gates down the stairs, while Barack Obama heedless of the infirmities of his friend and fellow victim of self-defined racial profiling, strides ahead on his own. So who is compassionate? And who is so [...]

The beer thing went off well enough, I guess, though it had already jumped the shark before they actually sat down, even before a Boston cop got himself in hot water by firing off a racist email.* My only comment on that thing last night is … which White House protocol genius forgot to tell everyone the appropriate [...]

Chalk one up for law and order, and a civil society.
The President of the United States doesn’t invite racial-profiling bigot cops to the White House. Or say things like this. Boston Herald:
I actually just had a conversation with Sergeant Jim Crowley, the officer involved. And I have to tell you that as I said yesterday, [...]

It’s starting to look like Harvard professors Henry Louis “Skip” Gates Jr. and Charles Ogletree, the Rev. Al Sharpton, and President Barack Obama picked the wrong white cop to mess with, to paraphase Skip.
It’s not just that Sgt. James Crowley has a backbone.
Boston Herald: Crowley teaches the racial profiling class at a local police academy, in [...]

The Cambridge cop accused of a racist arrest on Harvard Prof Henry Louis Gates Jr says he’s no racist and he won’t apologize. Gates has called James Crowley a “rogue cop,” though it’s not clear whether he knows much about this cop or his history. Meanwhile, the president of the United States, while acknowledging that he [...]

… except for the recriminations.
Harvard Prof Henry Louis Gates Jr’s lawyer, Walter Prince, and the Cambridge cops negotiate a “just resolution,” in which the cops and the DA drop the disorderly conduct charge, and both sides agree it was a “regrettable” incident.
Later in the day, Gates and his other lawyer, Harvard Law Prof Charles Ogletree, apparently working from [...]

… The Rev. Al Sharpton said.
Harvard Prof. Louis Gates cries racism most foul after someone spots him pushing in his own front door and calls the cops, who show up and ask Gates to identify himself. And that’s where the stories diverge. Gates’ friends say he showed them his ID. The cops say he refused to, instead started [...]

Sounds unpleasant and childish. The available reporting doesn’t give much history to indicate what kind of beef the harassers had with the harassed, or how well founded his fears that he wouldn’t get backup were, though.
